Working on a job that requires a face pin style spanner wrench or similar type tool to remove/install a couple pieces in the process of rebuilding a diaphragm valve.Could have taken the time to make the entire tool but because I could wait, decided to order a fixed face pin spanner of the proper spacing and pin size from McMaster Carr to use as the basis for a modification instead. Could have made it a one piece tool with an extension shaft to reach both levels needed to disassemble/assemble the valve but wanted the ability to use what ever length extension (if any) might be required to get any other similar job done.Started with an Armstrong 2" fixed spanner and the cut off female portion of a 3/8" drive Tru-Test extension that has been sitting in my toolbox for years waiting for such a project.Fast forward to the end, the finished product after TIGing with the Syncrowave 180 SD, cutting off the handle and contouring the tool at the cut point.Removing/installing the piston guide, shaft and piston just under 1" deep in the valve body.Piston guide, shaft and piston removed.Removing/installing valve seat located approximately 3" inside the valve body.Thanks for looking.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:Looks good. When I get to harbor Freight I pick up some of their extensions for cutting up. I have had to make up quite a few special wrenches as well. Serpentine belt tensioners come to mind, Take one of the best things they ever came up with as far as a tensioner and then pot it so you cant acces it , Got to love it.Miller xmt304, Miller S22 p12, Miier Maxstar SD, Miller 252 w 30A, Miller super32p12, Lincoln Ranger 9, Thermal Arc 181I with spoolgun, Hypertherm 10000 ,Smith torches. Reply:looking was a pleasure, thank's for sharing Q: both parts were probably tool steel, what filler did you use? Not having a tig i would probably stick weld it with stainless 308-309 or 316 do you think i'm ok?
