I built a loft in the shop and with lots of exuberance and a healthy dose of adult beverages and not much measuring my buddys and I built it over a couple weekends only to find out my skid steer wouldn't reach quite high enough, missed it by 3" so you could get a pallet up there but it was scary pulling back out, pallets breaking, bags falling off, stuff like that. started shopping craigslist and finally found an electric forklift that the batteries were bad went and got it, cut it apart, loaded the rest up, and hauled it to scrap, then the fun started. * I bought a skid steer mounting plate welded it up to test it and it bent into A pretzel as soon as weight hit it. I ended up building a mounting plate out of 3/8" plate with 1/2" edges and lots of support to keep it from bending. 200 dollars worth of hydraulics and its working great. the last pict is the junk being loaded the rest are of tha machine and the loaded loft thought I had more pictures but I can now reach 20' Attached ImagesLast edited by idacal; 12-26-2013 at 06:56 PM.Do not argue with an idiot. Reply:Ingenious set up. The combination of Newton and Murphy's laws is reducing my comfort zone a bit... Not to be used with that healty dose of adult beverage I like-it anyways
Reply:Should work I think I remember someone else here rigged a forklift onto a farm tractor, I don't remember who it was though.Airco Ac/Dc 300 HeliwelderMillerMatic 200 (stolen)Miller Maxstar 150STLMiller AEAD200LE (welding and generating power) Hobart MIG
Reply:The combination of Newton and Murphy's lawsAgreedI still like it though!
Reply:I think I know murphy a little to well he visits with me a lot, but who is newton? if I tilt forward with a pallet on it and up high it will defiantly turn the skid steer over Im not sure how to make a safety for thatDo not argue with an idiot. Reply:Don't let OSHA see that contraption, they are not fond of custom lifting equipment
Reply:I like that, as with any machine with common sense it should be relatively safe and very handy.Tim Beeker. |
