Reply:Try and find a manual for it and if you can get spare parts. If not, it's basically a big paper weight or door stop.
Reply:3 basic types of torches, HF torch, no moving parts. blow apart, either the tip or the electrode moves when air is applied to the torch. Then there is the third on I call the bump and cut.You have to press the torch down on the metal and let it up to fire the torch and get it to cut.The ceboras use this torch. I can see by the threads on the electrode it does not move. Can't tell about the nozzle. and which side the spring goes on. A bump and go torch has a spring to push the nozzle forward away from the electrode.
Reply:Hypertherm had a torch called "blow forward" (original torch on the Powermax1100 about 17 years ago) where the torch air pressure moved the nozzle forward to create the spark that ionized the air. It was soon replaced with a blowback design.Jim Colt Originally Posted by ccawgc3 basic types of torches, HF torch, no moving parts. blow apart, either the tip or the electrode moves when air is applied to the torch. Reply:Thanks for all the feedback. Is a old unit and cant find any info on it. The history on this it is a 120vlt unit. 25 amp plug. Was connected to 220vlts. The guy who gave it to me couldnt get it to work. He replaced the low voltage transformer which was overall destroyed. But wouldnt turn on. After i got it i found main power switch open, a bridge rectifier failed. All other transformer ohmed out. The handle switch energizes a soild state relay alowing the neutral side of power to transformers. Now having problems with solid state relay sticking closed and unit draws amps with no arc . Im thinking of adding a contactor to where the relay is to see if i can get to work.Last edited by Ironman101; 03-14-2015 at 10:28 AM. |
