Coffee tablet for the wife. 2x4 frame with 3x3 legs. ....... Easy part. This project involved wood.......not my strong point by far. Everything has to be cut to close. Wood is solid red oak. I don't have a table saw so put it on the Bridgeport and use an endmill to square and cut to length. Wood was .007 of run out over total length. Should have taken a pic of the set up. Finish with a little hammer paint and some sealer done deal

Reply:Bridgeport to cut oak? That's gotta be cheating lolAlways liked the look of wood mixed with steel - nicely done Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.
Reply:Looks great. I have been wanting to do a table for some time. I also like the steel and wood look! She should be happy with this one.~Scott~You can see what projects I'm working on on my Facebook page.https://www.facebook.com/pages/Bucke...3595655?ref=hlbucket_of_bolts on Instagram HTP 221 DV
Reply:Looks real good for someone whose strong point is not wood. What kind of rod did you use to weld the red oak to the steel with? I would like to find out so I can do some wood to steel projects.
Reply:Thanks guys. Using the Bridgeport was cheating but it made life easy. The wood to steel rods are expensive and you have to have a double converter to ac with a 35 jiggawatt power source. .......... I used some 14g 1 inch strips around the inside frame edge and a few screws to hold it nice and flat. I would like to do one with stainless and silicon bronze the welds and clear it. Wouldn't fit my houses styling but would look good in a really modern setting
