I put this on my truck today. a receiver hitch to move trailers in and out of the shop. Lincoln 225 ac (my first machine)farmhand 115vac 70amp mig/fc toymiller aead 200le (my main machine)
Reply:Nice!Good job, You'll love it.I made a front hitch for my 1990 Chevy WT and it made jockeying equipment around so much easier.

Reply:Don't you know you're not supposed to fabricate trailer hitches? The cyber welding police will deal with you soon. What if you sell this truck, and someone hooks up a trailer and drives backwards on the interstate at 65mph, they go out of control and kill a school bus filled half with nuns, half with school children, and half with newborn babies? What are you going to say then?"Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"

Reply:that is too funny, if they can get that truck up to 65mph in reverse with a zf 5 speed and 4:10 gears they deserve to crash.Lincoln 225 ac (my first machine)farmhand 115vac 70amp mig/fc toymiller aead 200le (my main machine)
Reply:If you put an extension on that/it's not too hard to reach in underneath, those front receivers are really handy for winches/tow rings. Someday I'll get around to getting/making one for my Dodge, don't want a hitch mounted up front permanently since I pull from the rear, but it's a nice option when the front is the only option to pull from.Bruce

Reply:Looks like it might be kind of hard to reach the pin, could you use a long rod that extends to one side of the truck or the other, then put a stop on the ball mount so it stops in the exact location to line up the pin?Tim Beeker.
Reply:yes the pin is going to be an issue. I am going to build a new bumper and try to implement a pin into it with a lever to pull and push it in and out.  the bumper on it now is rusted out.Lincoln 225 ac (my first machine)farmhand 115vac 70amp mig/fc toymiller aead 200le (my main machine)

Reply:I hope you didn't use that new 120 mig from Harbour freight to build that.....Miller thunderbolt 250Decastar 135ERecovering tool-o-holic ESAB OAI have been interested or involved in Electrical, Fire Alarm, Auto, Marine, Welding, Electronics ETC to name a just a few. So YES you can own too many tools.
Reply:Its not 120v Migged as it is a stick laying on the concrete.Probably a 120v HF "Production Style" stick welder though. Then another thing is he welded on the Frame!Shame, Shame!I can see this attached with a Tow Bar to a Motor Home careening down the Highway!Or Heaven Forbid! With a Winch attached, hanging from a tree to show off the power of said Winch!LOL!I LIKE IT!CONTRARY TO WHAT IS SAID ABOUT PUSHING OVER LOADED TRAILERS DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 65!

Reply:I'm surprised no one has mentioned the receiver is welded to an angle iron.  My understanding is angle doesn't have much torsional strength.
Reply:Hitch looks good, but I like that there is a Jeep in background on pic #1 (grin)Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkQualified & experienced at welding scrap metal
Reply:the angle is 2" 3/8.  the jeep in the background is a 98 grand Cherokee.Lincoln 225 ac (my first machine)farmhand 115vac 70amp mig/fc toymiller aead 200le (my main machine)
Reply:OMG!IT IS ANGLE IRON!!Welding on frames is usually a No-No as it compromises the "Strength of the Design".BUT!Snowplow frames are often seen welded on to the front of Trucks. When I saw the photo of the Stick & Lead , I seemed to rememberr that you were the fellow that has a Miller LE?You must have posted something interesting about it that I remembered it?Its Sunday morning, hope you didn't take it personal the teasing about the HF Welders?
Reply:no I didn't take it personally. the frame under the truck is a swap I did a couple years  ago the old one rusted out so I did a frame swap. we had to weld in the boxed front to mount the leaf spring mounts. it has been used petty hard and has held up good so far.Lincoln 225 ac (my first machine)farmhand 115vac 70amp mig/fc toymiller aead 200le (my main machine)
Reply:I used to have one of those ball brackets that you bolt on the bumper itself, you know, one of those cheesey cheap numbers. But wait, I would bolt it on the front bumper on the passenger side, I could see down the side of my trailer while pushing it straight (ahead-backwards?). It worked good where I had some room, not good going through narrow openings tho, consider this when yoiu build your new bumper?that is the main reason I am putting it on the front is so I can see to get the trailers through my door easier. it isn't a straight through from my driveway due to the way the house and the garage sit. it would be a turn to the blind side trying to back in so I figured if I could have the maneuverability of the steering at the hitch I could get it in easier. my truck wont go in without folding the mirrors in.Lincoln 225 ac (my first machine)farmhand 115vac 70amp mig/fc toymiller aead 200le (my main machine)
