I am going to start a new welding job using 0.52 metal-core wire. But First I will have to do a welding test. I need your help for the set up of the welder. Do you think I should set it at 355 wire speed and about 35.0 Volts? Thanks for your help

Reply:hey dad, what do you mean we cant trash talk ya? where is the fun in that? since things have quietened down from the chi com era trash talking has really fallen off. we need to be able to trash talk at least one mod or maybe two. heck 41 is considered an old prick. I should know I am a couple years older than that and well, let's just say I have to be careful not to dribble on my boots. LOL, I was waiting on another old prick to finish at the urinal at work and he was a few years ahead of me and it took him for e v e r to get started. He said apologetically as he went to wash his hands, that things started going down hill after 40. well I am thankful I can still start when I pull the zipper down.
Reply:I am for banning this guy, I think guys like this need to be slapped. I have fired many of them and don't tolerate them well at all. They seem to think they are entitled and know everything because they read about it or saw it on a tv show. Problem is, they have NO experience to back up their sorry butt.

Reply:I don't know how it is now, about 12-years ago I was in Los Angeles area building a couple bridges. The union there has a deal where it's harder than he!! to get rid of someone after the first 40-hours. Well those guys don't let their shirt tails hit their a$$ the first week, after that it's all stop! Reply:When I first started out on my own back in the early-mid 90s, I had a man like what we are talking about. I let him keep on because I thought I could change him. I was loosing all the respect from the other men cause of his constant lack of respect for me as the boss and the lack of respect for the man next to him. One day, I gave him an order he thought was beneath him. he began challenging me until he we reached that ultimatum point. I fired him. I had wrongfully waited till emotions were too high. He charged me with a roofing axe and I had no choice but to shoot him in the chest with an automatic bump roofing gun slamming the gun into him repeatedly till he stopped. His attitude turned around instantaneously. He went to the ER and I went back to work with a different perspective. I won't let any man get past the first day now with that kind of attitude. One warning when they are hired and then they can hit the street. I am glad I don't have to do that anymore as it was getting harder and harder finding men who wanted to work. You can still find some out there, but you have to be patient and pay them right to keep them cause they are valuable and your competition will scalp them right out from under you. One last thing I learned, I told all my men that if they are looking to leave or get an offer from another place, please let me know so I can counter-offer. I don't get mad in fact i will give them a bonus for telling me (usually $50 so they can take the Mrs. out). I must be able to confirm with the other company so I know it is legit. I also want to know if there is something I need to change that will make their job more attractive. I had a man who was being paid top dollar and wanted leave. Turns out all he wanted was a title of management. He was the lead guy and the other company was giving him the same job but calling it a management job and salary instead of hourly. same money when it was computed on a 40hr week. I countered with the title change and a guaranteed 40hr and anything over 40 he was paid his regular 1.5 OT. Like he always was. he always pulled at least 40; I guess it was a mental thing being salaried. When he learned he would actually make more staying hourly with the promised 40 than going to straight salary he decided salary wasn't so hot. I changed his title from Lead to Manager gave him a certificate and a frame, he stayed. In total it cost me $1.50 plus the $50 bonus, but it saved me royally due to keeping him. He worked harder and longer and really upped his game.
