First time I am posting here been lurking for a while. I have a Lincoln SP200 MIG welder right now and have been reasonably satisfied with it's performance. However I am interested in being able to MIG aluminum particularly with a MIG machine that has pulse capability. I have found a Lincoln Power MIG 350MP locally http://providence.craigslist.org/tls/4073820195.html. I would like some thoughts on this welder. I am by no means a professional welder however have been welding on and off for 10 years as a mechanic and at home on various projects. I would like to have a machine that will give me the ability to perform multiple welding processes and the 350MP would give me that. I guess I would like to know if anyone has used one and their opinion on performance and if this machine makes sense or should I just look at a power MIG 255XT.
Reply:Have you considered a spool gun for the SP200? I know their isn't a pulse function but it gets the job done.Lincoln pro core 125 14''chop saw7 inch grinder,2-4.5 inch grinders, electric die grinder.Half inch drillAnd alot of hand tools
Reply:I used that machine in school, it worked well. However, we used a spool gun when welding aluminum. It doesn't appear that machine comes with a spool gun. I'm not sure about Lincoln prices, however, if I remember correctly when I bought a spool gun for my Miller it cost about $600.*************************************Mike AccardiHenderson, [email protected] 250XLincoln Weldpack HDMiller Syncrowave 180 SD*************************************
Reply:They are very good machines. You can use either a spool gun or a push-pull gun with it. Also quite a good stick welder with adjustable arc force and hot start.I think the one in the ad is a bit over-priced. Two years ago they were selling for around $3800 new, so I hope he didn't really pay 5 grand for it. Check Ebay for prices and make him an offer if it looks good.JohnA few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps |
