And that's what they did.The title says it all..Front end housing from a 4X4 Loader..Driven until the wheel basically fell off in a field..Sooooooooo we get the repair..First up the steering knuckle housings..Front end housing set up in the horizontal boring machine..Knuckle sleeve..Sleeve welded..Had to do these standing up and do both sides..ends..Next post.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Now for the diff housing..Note how bad this is..The pin got loose..Then it wore out and fell out..Welded..Finished with a flap disc..It should be back together by now and it's in better shape than when it came in..I did the welding and finishing..I get all the fun jobs.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:The pic with the dime looks great!  I wouldn't of even hit it with the flap wheel.
Reply:6 sleeved bores? Do these then have bushings pressed in? Hope they didn't want you to re-use the old pins.  You do get all the fun jobs.

Reply:You ever get the feeling Zap, sometimes they break stuff JUST to see if you can fix it?I do. Today I repaired a tractor seat. Not one of the old metal ones, a comfy enclosed cab seat. They damn near ripped the frame off somehow. Nice job man If you cant fix it with a hammer, it must be an electrical problem."Boy, everyone starts with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience. Reply:I'm looking at the sleeves in the axle housing and thinking there should be a inner shoulder for the outer bearing race,But  the design may be diffrent than similar axles of this type i've rebuilt.I realize now why it looks diffrent the pins "+"  are pressed into the axle housing and the cup and cones are in the knuckle under the caps.Last edited by Winmac; 01-10-2013 at 01:27 AM.Briggs weldnpower 225/210/cvLn-25 suitcaseMillermatic 130
Reply:why is there a crater at your end point in the 2nd to last pic?Why didn't you flap disk the outer edge down to blend into the original material? Those are the questions I ask of myself, so I am asking you. Here are my answers, tell me if I am close.Because I was going to grind off that much anyways with the flap disk. The end point was non critical.Does it matter?Lincoln Power Mig 210MP MIGLincoln Power Mig 350MP - MIG and Push-PullLincoln TIG 300-300Lincoln Hobby-Weld 110v  Thanks JLAMESCK TIG TORCH, gas diffuser, pyrex cupThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 101My brain

Reply:Nice job there zap, and that old Lucas appears to be real well taken care of!Axles like that do tend to self destruct big time if not taken care of. I remember in the 70's case AG 4WD setups would get a little out of whack and the high speed axle would start rubbing inside the housing. The next thing the operator saw was fire coming out of the knuckle...Matt
