Tony had to redo his whole kitchen after a small water leak from the icemaker. They broke his granite countertops so they had to be replaced also. The piece from the desk was fine and he did not want to throw it away, so I offered to build a frame so he could use it on his deck.I think it turned out pretty good. He had it powder coated and it looks great on the deck. Attached ImagesBurt _____________________Miller Syncrowave 250Millermatic 211Miller 375 Plasma Cutter Hobart Handler 12010FtDrillBit.com

Reply:Hey there Roy.That would be a great way to break in that new shop!!What's Killer's email address? He has a piece that came off the ledge that is about 14" wide and 5' long. I am going to make a bench for their firepit area with it. I think I'm going to try my hand at stainless steel so it doesn't have to be powder coated since it will be in the yard. So add some tips on SS TIG/MIG to help me get started.Burt _____________________Miller Syncrowave 250Millermatic 211Miller 375 Plasma Cutter Hobart Handler 12010FtDrillBit.com
Reply:That is nice! I have 5 pieces of granite that i want to make patio tables out of. Going to use your design for at least 1 of them. Thanks for posting the pics!Gravel
Reply:Other then the pieces in the middle for the top looks the same as my coffee table.  I used 1/2" square tube, and a piece of oak plywood though.Looks great.
Reply:The legs and H frame are 2" 11 gauge tube. The top frame is 1" angle up and 3/4" angle down. The granite is very top heavy so I wanted enough of a base to keep it from tipping over. I TIG'd everything except a couple of MIG spot welds when I was fitting the legs. Tip for Gravel - I only allowed 1/8" on the top frame for the granite. I recommend you allow 1/4"-5/16". We had to grind and polish some on the edges because either the granite was not exactly square or my frame wasn't. Or probably both! Thanks for the kind comments.Burt _____________________Miller Syncrowave 250Millermatic 211Miller 375 Plasma Cutter Hobart Handler 12010FtDrillBit.com
Reply:Looks good. If I remember tomorrow, I'll try to make some suggestions on stainless. Reply:Thanks for the tip! I am going to use 1 1/4" angle for the top.  My granite is 1 1/8".  I'll check it for square and may build it in reverse (lay granite top down and tack angle together on it).  I'll be careful not to heat the granite too much so it doesn't crack on me.I'm also planning to use some black sealing caulk between the angle and the granite to keep ashes and dirt out of it so it is easier to clean.
Reply:We wanted the polished edge to be seen above the 1" angle. Since it was rolled it would have left a big gap. Black sealing caulk is a good idea. Might lift the stone and do that!Burt _____________________Miller Syncrowave 250Millermatic 211Miller 375 Plasma Cutter Hobart Handler 12010FtDrillBit.com

Reply:Looks great Burt.I'm still toying with the idea of making an outside griddle/Hibachi out of black granite.  I can get a remnant for fairly cheap, and my understanding is that it will tolerate heating and cooling cycle just fine as it is igneous stone.  Won't rust or weather like a piece steel or stainless.TA Arcmaster 300CM3XMT 304S22P12 suitcase feederX-Treme 12VSOptima pulserTA161SMaxstar 150STLHypertherm PM45OP setupStihl 020AVP, 039, 066 Magnum
