Can someone help me where my settings should start out at? I'm welding 16 gauge and 18 gauge auto panels. trying to patch panels. I forgot to look at my wire size. Here's the flowmeter i'm using.http://www.ebay.com/itm/220914611673...9#ht_803wt_679
Reply:For 18ga. I would start with .024 wire with 75/25 mix, 20cfh gas flow, electrode positive, voltage 1, wire speed 20, with 1/4" stickout. If your not using gas you will use flux core .030 wire, electrode negative, voltage 1,wire feed speed 1, with 1/4" stickout, according to your chart.
Reply:thx henrymac. When people say they're using 20 cfm, they really mean 20 cfh?

Reply:Yes I have gas, I'm assuming its co2/argon. Here's a pic. I'll look at wire size when I get home.
Reply:The tank is stamped #15 CO2 but the label says 100% argon. The welding gas supplier is also named on the label. Take the tank by them and ask.If it is 100% argon it won't mig weld steel at all. it is For TIG welding and aluminum mig.Where your label says argon, Mixed gases will be listed and what % of each in the spot. |
