New gear, better welder?

Some know I've picked up a syncro 250 last year.  I d been using the damaged two cable torch all this time.  It was short, had a patch in the gas line, the head was bent, and the tunsten wouldnt get tight anymore.A week ago i bit the bullet at arczone.  Upon receiving i quickly ate my m&ms then installed a ck210 trim line with one piece cable.WOW, i feel like a new welder.  The thing feels like a pencil.  My welds look better as i think i am more comfortable.  Very nimble, just feels great.Also picked up a stick lead.  Looking forward to trying that too.Just had to share my excitement!
Reply:It is amazing what a difference a change in equipment can make.I'm trying to teach myself TIG with my Syncro 250. Been struggling for months with welds not looking like I want.Had to replace my glasses, so put a cheater lens in with my old glasses and WOW! I can see! No wonder my beads looked so bad. So starting to make progress now.Sounds like your torch was holding you back. Good luck with the new torch. Reply:Just did a conversion to a new torch myself.I agree with the comments you lads have, it feels great! I think there might be a bit in your head too wanting to weld better and you might just be less lazy with the new equipment.  Im trying to think thats not the case in any of our situations but i just had the thought.
Reply:Oh good. I was afraid I'd have to beat you profusely if you let that sweet Syncro 250 go. The only "better" machine I could think of would be if you somehow managed to upgrade to a Dynasty 350.Yeah the right torch can make all the difference in the world. This term we only have one guy doing tig right now. I forget how big and clunky the 18 series torches the tech school has can be since I haven't had to use one much this term..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:It doesn't necessarily make you a better welder. If you can't weld, you can't weld. If you can weld, and you're having issues with bad equipment it's like a road block. Good gear will remove that block and let you weld to your potential. If you're still messing up... well. There's always pipe fitting. Though, gear gives you advantages over regular equipment. Or things like creepers, and guides that come on, or are put on some torches and guns.
Reply:Loving the new torch.Started building this trolley today for work.  Its used to stack brush and logs on and remove from tight yards.  Going to finish it up next week, need some steel for the axle and some 1" aluminum to build removable uprights.  I copied this from a company that builds them.  Their cost 600+.  I will have under $125 into mine.
