ideaarc tig 300/300

hello ,everyone  i have a question about my tig its ideaarc tig 300-300 its old but was working good my problem is when i step on peddel to and let go its still arcing but if i kinda push pedel down and let it release fast it turn off i took it to a welding shop said it might be pedel but they dont sell them anymore but could get new pedel 6 pron get cable with 5 pron can make it work but thats like about 600.00 thats almost as much as the welder worth.

Reply:The micro switch operating the contactor in the machine may be sticking.Take it apart and have a look. It could be your problem.The best corded pedal Lincoln makes is nowhere near $600. Good used pedals can be found for that machine in the $100-175 dollar range. Check the micro switch tho. It may just need a little wiggle or blow out with compressed air. Even replacing them isn't too expensive. You can generally find aftermarket replacements on the Internet with some reasonable searching. Also, check your cord back to the welder and run a continuity check on the wires inside. Look at the connector that plugs into the welder, inspect it for loose or broken pinsMake sure nothing is broken, or has come loose. Reply:My Miller does the same thing...super annoying! I haven't bothered to replace it, and I don't know why!!Anyway, the micro switch will be obvious when you open it up. It should look something like this:https://www.google.ca/search?q=micro...63%3B640%3B640Probably runs on a cam, so that if the pedal is off the rest position it makes contact. They usually loose their 'snappy action' and kinda mush out.You can get one at digikey...just get the right voltage on the contacts...probably doesn't draw more than one amp. The things to look for are the mounting screw dimensions and the operating lever (wheel end, push pin, etc).Chay
