It was hard for me to post this as I did not want to show anyone up! Kidding -- just needed to get these up off the floor while I get my new one built. I am also upgrading my little Lincoln 110V -- looking at the Everlast Power I-MIG 200 which should be more then what this hobbyist should need.Cheers, Patrick
Reply:That will work. As far as what you are looking for, choose wisely. Hobby or not I would stick with real machines. It will cost more but you will only do it once. As far as a upgrade, I would go with Miller , Lincoln, or Hobart. Check on pricing, The Hobart 210 might be close to the neverlast your thinkin about. Doesn't cost too much more to go first class. Northern has the Hobart 210 for $849.99.  http://www.northerntool.com/shop/too...9230_200479230The Miller 211 is around $1070 and is in the current rebate program.http://www.millerwelds.com/landing/build-with-blue/Lincoln has a current rebate too. http://www.lincolnelectric.com/en-us...ncolnElectric)
Reply:Another possible consideration for upgrade is finding a machine like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Miller-CP-20...item1c3ade4909 In your area for cheap, and converting it to single phase via the Haas-Kamp method.  3-phase machines converted this way work G R E A T.  GREAT.Miller Dynasty 200 DXMiller CP-300 with 30A feederHypertherm Powermax 900Oxy-fuel w/Harris torchesScotchman Glide-in bandsawMonarch 10EE latheEmi-Mec Autoturn latheDeckel FP2NC milling machinePro-Tools 105 Bender

Reply:You may want to take a closer look at the two Lincolns. I think one has a plastic drive housing and one has a aluminum drive housing. Maybe a Lincoln member will add input. Might be worth starting a post on it.

Reply:you are correct. the machine made for Home Depot is badged HD and the drives is plastic vs the aluminum version from a welding supply store. I have investigated and the parts can not be changed out to upgrade the Home Depot model.  But I have 5 or 6 years use out of mine.
Reply:Spool please take BD1s advice on the better machines. I don't want to have to start yelling at a company who won't stand behind their product. I already have high blood pressure so it would help me if you bought brand name.
