MIG gun troubles---help?

I have a Lincoln 255.  In the past few years I have put about 100 pounds of mild steel .030 thru it.   About three weeks ago it began to stick and birds nest at the linner.   While replacing the linner, I had great difficulty passing it through the last 3 ft and had to air blast it many times to get it to pass.   It works now but it does spit or varry alot when starting.   What is still to be done to smoth this out for a good operation----Yes, I know, I could have gotten a Miller))))   Thanks

Reply:When replacing a liner I never pre-cut them, I pull on the old liner a bit before removing and measure the amount sticking out of the torch after removing the diffuser. Then I pull the old liner out and push the new un-cut liner in, pull the last bit and trim to the measured length.I don't like pushing the liner the last bit where it is coated on the outside, easier to pull it. The wrong ID on the liner can cause real headaches too.Good luckMatt
Reply:Check pour inlet guide as well ( between drive rolls and power point on MIG whip ). Crap likes to buildup on these and can be cleaned with a tip cleaner.Miller xmt304,  Miller S22 p12, Miier Maxstar SD, Miller 252 w 30A, Miller super32p12, Lincoln Ranger 9, Thermal Arc 181I with spoolgun, Hypertherm 10000 ,Smith torches. Reply:I have a Miller Roughneck 400 amp gun that has acted the same way since it was brand new. I've ran it on two different welders and still the same, doesn't like to start. Sometimes you can let off the trigger and immediately restart and it's fine. I just figured by now I will not buy another Roughneck.
