I have an opportunity to get a roll of Tri Mark Metalloy 71 wire. It is 0.035" and a new roll still in the plastic bag. I can only find an old brochure but no operating parameters. The only thing i found out is that it will run on 75/25 so I don't have to get new gas. What is this wire used for and what is the difference between "metal cored" wire and g.s. flux core? I am picking up some knurled rolls tomorrow for the 12vs and am looking forward to trying it out. I've heard that this type of wire will spray with 75/25 but I have never used that process before so hopefully the xmt&12vs are up to the task. What would be some good material to test this out on?TOO MANY TOOLS & NO MORE SPACE
Reply:I ran some of the wire today and it is awesome. It leaves a bead like a caulking gun. The settings were,.035"wire75/25 gas @ 35cfh25v425-460ipmIt leaves a light "glass" layer that brushes off easily revealing a very nice looking bead. I had to move a lot quicker with this wire vs regular wire, there is also a lot more heat but the weld puddle was very liquid and tied in nicely on some 1/4" material. I needed to weld up some 1/8" parts so instead of changing wire I tried the metalloy out and it worked great on the thinner material.TOO MANY TOOLS & NO MORE SPACE |
