Hi all, I have finally found a new toy that I can play with, a reasonable sized Gap bed lathe, I had been after one for over a year since I sold my last small lathe which was a small hobby lathe with mill attachment. A friend of mine gave me a tiny and very old Advance lathe in the meantime, but it wasn't much good for anything really and highly inaccurate. Boat anchor perhaps?Found a guy who was closing down his business and getting rid of all the equipment. Rang him up at night and then went straight away next morning to look at it, checked it out and made him an offer and settled on a price we could both live with. At least I couldIt's a Chinese made production gap bed lathe C6240B1, 3 phase motor, 1mt centre to centre, 750mm over the gap, came with a plate, 3 jaw 225mm chuck and a 400mm 4 jaw independent chuck, Meister XPOS2 RDO, 50mm spindle, Halogen light and coolant pump, 25 to 1600RPM. and weighs about 1600 to 2000KgDon't know how old it is but judging from it's design it would probably be about 7-10years old. Maybe someone else here may know, there are at least 2 other models using the same model number with different specs. Now I can do all those odd jobs that I had piling up to do, managed to get it home on a 10 ton crane truck and it is now waiting for the 3 phase cable plug to arrive next week so that I can connect it up as it was wired directly to the wall.Shaves off 6mm of metal per side in 1 go so more than adequate for my modest requirements. Now I can make all the metal toothpicks I want. Now I just have to find a nice comfy spot somewhere in the shed to sleep as my wife will probably kick me out as penence. Reply:nice find! I'm dying to get a lathe and a mill, but no 3 phase power and my garage is already so filled up with tools I hardly have room to work! One day though. Anyway, enjoy. Millermatic 135Syncrowave 250
