I found a killer deal on a Hobart 3035 spool gun and was wondering if there is a way to adapt it to my migmaster, I know its only rated for 180 amps but I don't think that will be a big problem as long as i don't max out my machine. Thanks for the helpAnthonyTo many hobbies not enough Cash!!1951 Chevy 1 Ton 9' Pickup resto-mod V8 4x4 1987 Pontiac Fiero GT 3800 V6 ConversionESAB MIgmaster 250www.anthonysautoservice.com
Reply:I can't tell you for certain, but really the only input that the migmaster needs to see is to close the contactor, if you are needing different voltages than the esab has for the spool gun you may need a second wall transformer to run the feeder on the spool gun and a relay to isolate the spool gun from the migmaster but I think it can be done. Don't have a diagram in front of me otherwise I could probably tell you how to do it.I feel your pain on the cost of esab spoolguns, I've got a migmaster 251 and damn are the esab guns pricey!
Reply:thanks for the input, we spoke to Hobart and they said it would not work because of the feed motor in their spool gun, I'm sure like you said a guy could get a transformer to make it happen but I hate rigging that kind of stuff. it seems that when i do it only works part of the time and when you need it most it dosn't work right. thing that sucks is it was brand new in the box for 200 at Northern tool. it was an open box but it was all there.I guess i'll just start saving to buy the Mt-250, there on E-bay for 649. for a new one.AnthonyTo many hobbies not enough Cash!!1951 Chevy 1 Ton 9' Pickup resto-mod V8 4x4 1987 Pontiac Fiero GT 3800 V6 ConversionESAB MIgmaster 250www.anthonysautoservice.com |
