Lincoln "Square Wave" TIG 175

Some months back I said I was in the market to acquire a small TIG welder this year.   I received an email from Lincoln this morning "reintroducing" their "popular" Square Wave TIG 175, with a rebate program attached (MSRP $1599 less $150 rebate).Is this machine  or  or  ?All comments are welcomed! Reply:great little machine as long as it falls in the size catagory you need. Its good for about 3/16" aluminum occasionally. It's the first TIG I ever used to make turbo manifolds back in the dayIf you cannot convince them, confuse them.         Harry S Truman
Reply:Looks like a pretty good value compared to the Diversion.  Using the typical 20% off list it's just under 1300 with free shipping.  And it includes a stick and pedal.  But no TIG for Dummies book.    There was a used one on eBay in SoCal a couple weeks back that went for 1200 but pedal or gauge.On edit, IOC on eBay has the new one 1579.  Seems a bit high compared to the Diversion.  At almost 1600 don't know if it would be enough to sway me.  For only a few hun more you could get a P-Tig 225 or a Syncro 200.Last edited by dstevens; 06-07-2010 at 04:25 PM.Reason: found real price
Reply:I bought one at auction a few months back and it works good but didn't have a pedal,  I got a thumb control for about $40 on ebay and added that to it instead,  nice if you need to work out of position where u cannot easily operate a pedal...      175 amps DC stick is also a pretty good amount of current too,,,  Esp if you don't own a stick welder...   I haven't had much time to practice TIG yet though.   Did cut up an F250 a couple days ago with my Plasma so getting the hang of that at least...   picked up my 175 tig for about $800 at auction out the door.    the 225 seems like a better choice if you want to do thick aluminum...  I got a spool gun for doing that though...Tiger Sales:  AHP Distributor    www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P,  Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.  For Sale:  Cobra Mig 250 w/ Push-pull gun.  Lincoln Wirematic 250
