Reply:That's a great looking functional group of furniture.
Reply:They all look great and sturdy. Beautiful combo of wood and metal. The tables look fantastic with those natural edge. The pecan wood goes very well with the dark steel legs. Excellent job!

Reply:I made a bed frame once, A monster black walnut tree was taken down a mile from home, I cut it into planks with chain saw, dried it, turned bed posts on a homemade lathe, as pieces were 5' 6" long I had to Splice on a diagonal to make rails I was particularly proud of them You must study to find the glue line. When it came to the headboard I wanted an open pediment with dentil molding. Mrs. B didn't. I suggested a tombstone headboard. She didn't like that idea she felt like she would be sleeping in a grave yard. I said look through some books, Let me know what you like. One evening I went off to a school board meeting. My 14 year old son laid an antique Savage model 99 30-30 rifle on the headboard, traced around it and cut it out with the band saw. (stock building 101).It turns out it was my fault. I hadn't said "if you get the urge to make a new stock for an antique rifle that doesn't need a new stock, don't use my headboard, there is plenty of other wood for the purpose.Stupid me!14 years later I never leave the house without cautioning him. He's married, has a wife and home in the next town, but it seems he's always here. He says I'm difficult, I thing not difficult enough.
