Reply:Now the bad news... A cylinder that size around me would be a rental/leased cylinder and the only ones who would touch it would be the supplier. If you don't have an account, they may not be willing to exchange it for anything. Second. with that inflator on the valve, I'll bet it's "balloon" helium. They often add as much air to balloon helium as they can get away with and still float a balloon. They do this for two reasons, #1 pure helium is EXPENSIVE, #2 people get cranky when their kids breath pure helium and die, so they add at least enough O2 to the mix so it still supports life. Air/O2 in the mix makes it unsuitable for welding use. If there is gas in the cylinder and you plan to have a party with balloons, you are all set. For welding use, you may not have anything really usefull..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:If it has a name or initials around the top ring on the tank right below the valve you can't do anything with it besides its probably stolen
Reply:Barnes Weld Supply here in Sacramento......exchange no problem... I'm sure it's balloon helium but for $25 i'll take the tank and screw around with the helium in it.Lincoln PowerMig 200AHP 200x 3rd Gen.Miller 211 AASMiller Digital Elite "POWMIA"Victor Oxy SetLotos ltp5000d

Reply:I've swapped cylinders that aren't "mine" many times. However I do have an account and the counter guy knows me. Usually they are cylinders I've borrowed from a friend who uses the same supplier and swap them before I give them back. As long as I have a cylinder and am swapping for the same thing, they don't really care if it shows up on my account or not. Their cylinder count matches at the end of the day, one in, one out.I have inquired in the past about swapping out some rental/lease cylinders for other gasses. That gets a bit more dicey from what the counter guy has tool me. O2 for example comes in 282 cf cylinders, but say Argon or C25 comes in 300 cf cylinders. That can throw his counts off. He's told me he'll work with me on one if I really wanted to exchange one, as I've got some older cylinders from before they got bought out that, were customer owned that were exchanged for their cylinders, but I'm sure he wouldn't do more than one or two, and chances are he might still just say "no" and only let me exchange them for the same thing. My bet is he probably bets he can slide one "odd" cylinder in as a paper work error if he really wanted to help me out..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:I've never had problems swapping cylinders of same size to different gasses. Typically all of my cylinders are "Linde" in S, K, T, Q, and such. I don't know the capacity of any but a big job may require more gas of a certain type so a larger cylinder is exchanged for etc. I exchanged an empty "S" Argon cylinder for another "S" of helium to support my granddaughter's b'day party with no problems and borrowed an inflator valve from the supplier as example.SlobPurveyor of intimate unparalleled knowledge of nothing about everything.Oh yeah, also an unabashed internet "Troll" too.....
