Well after the last banana boat bonanza I figured I would start over from scratch. The tubing is 3in 3/16 wall with some heavy duty expanded metal I found laying up against a storage building. Haven't got the top on yet. Im holding out for a bit because I heard there might be some 1/2 plate I could scratch up from another department.

Reply:Haha, that last one you made was funny! This looks better.

Reply:Great looking table. Did you get the 1/2 inch plate
Reply:No go on the 1/2 inch plate. So I had to use an 18 inch wide X 8 foot piece of scrap 1/4 that had been laying in the weather for a few years with very rough torch cuts.after a few hours of grinding this is what it turned out to be. Good enough I guess. Its a heck of a lot better than the wood work bench

Reply:No pretty polished top. Just hit it with a cup brush and called it good. I was more worried about straightening out Michael J Fox's torch cuts. Got a two inch gap for clamping and a couple inches of overhang. All welding was done with a pos lincoln ac only Briggs powered welder with 1/8 6011.
Reply:That will make you a good work bench. I have a table that I was given that needs a lot of work. But it was free. I will post when I can dig it out of the barn this spring

Reply:Thanks. I figure it will pretty much finish itself up just from grinding off spatter and stuff. No sense in making it shiny. |
