Its a gently used miller trailblazer 302 came with a brand new never used spoolmatic 30a and 200ft of leads with twelco conectors. 4-25 ft sections and 2-50 ft sections. Thing runs like a top and welds great. Much better than my bobcat 225g with 4000 some odd hrs. ill post some pics in a sec. I do have a qustions for you fine fellows how do i go about hooking up the spoolmatic can i run steel wire through it and what settings should i try. dcep or decn? what about alum wire settings to try ive never run one of these off a generator welder let alone one a welder in the shop.trailblazer 302 spoolmatic 25a with wc-24thermal arc 161s tig rigmillermatic 200dialarc 250 hf tig rig with spool gun and boxand wanting more......

Reply:Good deal, I paid considerably more for mine! You'll love it! I've used an HTP spool gun with mine for flux cored steel repairs and a little practice on aluminum and it welded all great! Some people buy a boat for retirement. Reply:Hey, good buy.  Some answers to your questions:If the Spoolmatic you bought has everything, it should have a WC-24 controller with it.  The controller plugs into the 14-pin connector coming off the gun, then the controller's 14-pin plugs into your machine.  The gun will have a gas hose with it, this plugs into your tank's flowmeter.  People usually use either CO2 or 75/25 gas.  The gas solenoid is in the gun itself.  Then you should have a power lead, which will plug into your welder's "WIRE" location.  You're going to be running the process selector switch in the MIG Voltage Sensing and not the MIG Remote position.  You'll be adjusting your voltage at the machine and your wire speed by the circular red knob on the bottom of the spoolgun handle. Yes, you can run steel wire through it, which will come in 2-lb rolls.  You'll be running DCEP polarity for solid wire just like it was a regular MIG welder.   Settings are going to depend on what you're welding, and on the gun itself since the numbers on the red knob (1-10, I think?) don't correspond with actual ipm.  You can figure out your ipm by setting it on a number, then feeding wire for however long and doing the math.  Make yourself up a chart.  Anyhow, for steel I usually set a voltage that I use with the Suitcase 12RC that stays on the truck, then experiment with wire speed until I get the same weld that I'd have with the Suitcase.  If you're wanting to weld with flux-core steel wire you'll be running DCEN.  Good idea to tape a little shop rag or something over the gun's gas line exit so you keep it clean for later.  You'll be pulling the weld here.Aluminum will be DCEP, using Argon gas.  You'll have to experiment to find the best settings for the thickness of aluminum you're wanting to weld.  You will want to push the weld vs pulling it.
Reply:Awesome deal ! I bought mine three years ago with 179 hours and 100 cable, stinger, and ground for $2000.00.  I thought I did well. It is a heck of a machine. I have used it once for emergency power and it saved the night. It was -10 and did have the house panel setup for generator use.
Reply:PS - The safety police may be along soon to mention it'd be good to cover up your bare skin while you're welding.  And that it'd be good to stand that acetylene tank up for awhile before using it in case you don't know that.  But I won't mention any of those things.

Reply:only other thing i was thinking about whats the best suit case welder for it ive heard so many things. i know they all have there pros and cons but what do you run tbone and why did you chose it over the others.trailblazer 302 spoolmatic 25a with wc-24thermal arc 161s tig rigmillermatic 200dialarc 250 hf tig rig with spool gun and boxand wanting more......
Reply:the 302 is a good machine. i had a kohler powered one on my company truck that ran very well.i miss it in comparison to the 325 on the new rig.people talk about their sa-200's and such but the versatility and weld-per-dollar of a trailblazer is tough to beat! impossible to beat in your case!bosses stuff:trailblazer 325maxstar 200my stuff:sa 200fronius transpocket 180100 amp Lincoln w/f97 f350 DITKevin
Reply:I would get a voltage sensing feeder such as a lm-25, 12vs or s32p12. That way you don't need the expensive control cable.

Reply:Originally Posted by tbone550I missed this post.  So the new covers don't have the four grommets anymore?  Dang, I knew I should've ordered more of those while they were available.  My machine is bolted to a base I made that has welded pins matching the four grommets' locations.  So I toss the cover over the welder, pull it tight until I get the grommets through the pins, then put hairpins through the pins so it can't come off.  It's been a nice system for the last 9 years.  I'll have to check with my LWS to see if they still have any covers with grommets in them.

Reply:Like T bone i have run a 12RC for years still have my original undamaged 75 ft controller cable  ...It was nicer to adjust things without having to crawl out from in or under to get adjustments just rightBut now i finally got one of these so i don't have to do that with stick or a 12VS or even the DC Tig...I do switch sometimes back and forth between 6010 and 7018 while doing some repair workGuess im just getting old and lazy The RC controller cable is limited to 100 or 150 feet because of voltage drop The VS feeder can go as far as you have leads to goLast edited by killdozerd11; 04-22-2015 at 10:00 AM.Backed my CATMA over your CARMA oops clusmy me  What would SATAN do ??
