Todays job at the quarry. Gap is not supposed to be there. Bolting flange is on the inside of the 5 1/2' pipe. We are leaving the gap there, our engineers feel that it has settled to the point of just tying them together will do the job that the bolted flange was doing before. This leg hasn't settled the tail end of the conveyor settled and pulled everything back with it. At some point we will probably do all the legs just in case. We are running a 3/8''X3'' band around entire flange welding only the top of the band to the top flange. Then there is 8 gussets I guess you could call them vertically around the circumfrence. This pipe still needs some room to move.Hope to be done tomorrow I am running .068'' Innershield my partner is using Esab dual shield and spent the day cussing the wind lol. Attached Images

Reply:big wormThe simplicity of the reparation is really smart design. If the gap is not supposed to be there - who are the lucky folks responsible for it being there?Opus
