This isn't a question, just info. The new GMC's and Ford trucks are coming out with 2 1/2" hitch receivers with a reducing insert for normal 2" inserts. I noticed 3" is even available as well as a 3" ball. I haven't seen any trailers built with 3" hitches yet. Apparrently bumper pull ratings look like they are 20,000 lbs on those pickups. They are class V.
Reply:I think they are unnecessary. If you need a hitch that size you should be using a semi.Just a couple welders, big hammers, grinders, and torches.Work will free you.Men in dirty jeans built this country, while men in clean suits have destroyed it. Trump/Carson 2016-2024
Reply:I've seen 2 1/2" receivers before, as you mentioned on heavy class V hitches. Not terribly common, but they have been out there fore a while..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:We bought a new GMC 3/4 ton and it was stock. The Fords are also.
Reply:My 2015 2500 Chevy has it. I bought the SCHUCK receiver insert for it , 750 RT-R 2.5 . Had one on my last 2015 and worth the investment. http://store.schuckcushionhitches.com/750-rt-r-25
Reply:That hitch has been available for many years, it's what's required to legally pull what those trucks are capable of towing. About time they became standard. Around here I put a lot of those on after a dot stop and ticket for not having a hitch rated high enough.Last edited by welderj; 05-09-2015 at 09:02 AM.Yeah, I know, but it'll be ok!Lincoln Square wave 255Miller Vintage mig30a spoolgunThermal Dynamics Pacmaster 100xl plasmaSmith mc torchEllis 1600 band saw |
