Reply:Can't give you a value, but these get some interest at re.crafts.metalworking on the usenet.Logan Actuator Co is here; http://lathe.com/Logan lathe faq is here; http://lathe.com/faq/index.htmlMatt
Reply:Logans are good lathes, comparable to South Bend and Sheldon. They are fully supported by Logan Actuator, see link above. That being said, this one seems to have been neglegted. It has desirable features like the cabinet under drive, QC gearbox. You'd have to ascertain the amount of wear/rust on the bed, spindle and bearings as well as the whole drive train. If you were looking for a project, maybe offer couple hundred at the most.Personally, I'd hold out for something in better condition.I had an Model 820 (which is very similar to this, except cabinet drive) that was made in 1946 and used the hell out of it turning, threading, etc. Had it 6 years and sold it for the same amount I paid for it, $550.
Reply:depends on where it is, in the midwest here i would say, 6 or 700, depending on how bad/good shape it is in....I just got done shopping for one, looked for months, not a lot around here, and demand is there for'em......
Reply:Yeah he's asking $600 told him id get back with him I wanted to find out a little more on maybe what some of you guys thought it might be worth.
Reply:If you can run it, put through the paces. I realize that a lot of photos tend to exagerate the amount of rust so seeing it live may be somewhat different.  Make sure the half nuts engage, the clutch for power feeds works. Like I said, the make and model are good. This one, condition aside, is equipped w/ enough to let you turn but no 4 jaw, no steady it's not tricked out.Good Luck
Reply:Logan made a good lathe and as mentioned above, parts are still available from logan. Just remember that the tooling you will want can run you several times more than you pay for the lathe.Below is a link to a good article on evaluating a lathe. I think there is also a yahoo group dedicated to logan lathes where you may be able to get more info.Good luck if you do decide to get it. You'll find there are all sorts of things you can do with a lathe
Reply:Engaged finger before brain, Forgot to paste link for evaluating a lathehttp://www.mermac.com/advicenew.html
