Had a coworker running some Mig beads on a large box built out of 1/4" mill steel that I had tacked together with 7018 and 6011. Every time he ran over my welds he would get all kinds of porosity showing in the weld. Neither of us know why. Any thoughts on it? He was running .035 wire with some kind of argon tri-mix gas at 35 cfh and about 80 amps on an old Hobart transformer type machine with a wire feeder attached. Reply:Slag from the tack. You have to hit the tacks with a grinder, when they look clean hit them a little more.Miller xmt304, Miller S22 p12, Miier Maxstar SD, Miller 252 w 30A, Miller super32p12, Lincoln Ranger 9, Thermal Arc 181I with spoolgun, Hypertherm 10000 ,Smith torches.
