Lincoln SAE-400 info needed

seen one for sale locally wondering how good or bad they are? its a 6 cyl gas, so im assuming its going to be a real pig on fuel. doesnt come with leads but i have  200ft of lead in the garage anyways. anything in particular i would need to look out for? id prefer to find a SA200 but it does seem to be reasonable price guy said he would take 600 for it without leads but has leads to test with. whats the AC electrical output on them?Century 88amp 110v migCentury 100, 110migPowcon200smThermal Arc 140 migThermal Arc Fabricator 211i
Reply:I ran a SAE-400 w/a diesel engine for quite a few years in the 1980s. Great machine! Most likely it will not have a CV box, so if you plane on running T-8 wire you'll want to think about this purchase. If you plan on running T-11 wire the SAE-400s have a beautiful arc for that. Reply:You could hang any alternator of your choice off it and run an inverter for more AC power if desired. I'd happily give 600 for a good runner.
