Okay, I'm a welding student in high school and my mig welds have a stacked dime look. This kid in my welding class always yells at me for it. Is this okay?

Reply:I can't post pics at the moment, but flat and horizontal, on 1/8th plate fillets and lap joints. using .035 wire at 160/18.5, using the cursive e motion.
Reply:Settings sound about right, cursive "e" will give you a little pattern - when you get pics post them up According to my chart 160 inches per minute wire speed is low for 0.035 wire.Last edited by MinnesotaDave; 01-19-2014 at 07:48 PM.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.
Reply:I would tell the kid to suck a chode and ask your INSTRUCTORS what they think! With those voltage settings you should have about 200 IPM wire. |
