I run across alot of big old tools. My latest addition is an Ingersoll Rand 3SK pneumatic drill. It is not a great use of air, but the price was right and it spins at 300rpm so I could use it for steel. I got the air motor running today and freed up the feed screw on the back of it. Next up is the chuck. I soaked it with some atf and it freed up a tad. Still need to get the 3 jaws of the chuck to work right, but I'm sure I'll get it sooner or later. Is there any advise on how to get it freed up and working well? Still soaking in oil to help it loosen up.
Reply:Not sure what your soaking it in, but I have loosened up ALOT of rusty screw threads and such with CLP. If your not familiar with it, it is a gun "cleaner, lubricant, and protectant". Reply:Auto trans fluid is what has given me great results in the past. I was going to try CLR-calcium, lime, rust next. I have lots of clp too though! Might try that next, thanks.
Reply:Kroil is the best I've found for this, but there are lots of things that will work, given enough time.
