I am finally getting the shop together and have cleaned out my dads place since his passing last January. I set up his 20 Flather lathe in my garage. To make room I sold my 1924 18 Boye & Emmes lathe in August. Last week I also sold dads 12 x 5 Hendey tiebar lathe as I have a small 9 Southbend lathe in my basement along with a shaper and camelback drill press and didnt see a need for the Hendey. I also brought home metal cabinets, electric motors, buckets full of nuts & bolts, lathe tool holders, hundreds of high speed bits, a few hundred taper shank twist drills, micrometers, taps, dies, a few thousand pounds of brass, stainless, aluminum & steel round stock, angle iron, flat bar, beam trolleys, 3 and 4 jaw chucks, a horizontal band saw and a prize 300# Fisher anvil. My line up in the garage now consists of: 1910s-20s John Steptoe Co. 16" Shaper1910s-20s Flather & Co. 20" Lathe1964 Index 645 Vertical Milling Machine1950's Diamond Tool Co. M-22 Horizontal Milling Machine1910s Silver Manufacturing Co. 20" Camelback Drill Press( I have 2 welders also)I installed a new 200 amp electric service in the garage last June with 100 amps going underground to the house, mainly for power distribution as I have subpanels and disconnects everywhere. I am also going to install a 5KVA natural gas 4 cylinder emergency generator that I picked up from a construction job. The only machine yet to be torn down, painted and restored is the Index vertical mill and I plan to do that next summer. The combination of the 2 shops has resulted in a very complete and capable home shop. I can make and fabricate just about anything now. I just need to find the time to work in it. Dad would be proud. Attached Images
