I got a new chop saw and it is taking up too much space on m welding table so I am making a stand for it to go on. got this old gas main pipe from a basketball hoop from a friends dad and this would make a great project for it.Lincoln 225 ac (my first machine)farmhand 115vac 70amp mig/fc toymiller aead 200le (my main machine)
Reply:I have an angle grinder exactly like yours in the first picture. What brand is yours? Mine (I am in Greece) is a no name (Raider or something), but Iabsolutely love it. 900 Watts and variable rpm. I have two more angle grinders 1200 Watts and 110 Watts (all variable rpm), but most of the time I prefer this one.I keep my chop saw on the ground and only put it on the workbench when I need it.JohnTelwin Force 165 InverterDewalt abrasive chop saw
Reply:When you get done, you will need to build a support stand the same height as the saw deck to hold long pieces of stock to cut. Either that or get a helper to hold it while you do the cutting, or you hold it while the helper makes the cut.
Reply:Looking at your table that the saw is on now , what if you add on to the table to the right and set the saw in a recessed area ? You could set the SAW TABLE to be the same height as your table. Then material could rest on table for support . You can still build the free standing table for the saw.
Reply:I like having my saw on it's own stand too. Then, like said above, make an adjustable stand to hold the end of long stuff. When you're done with that, you'll want an adjustable stop so you can make repeated cuts of the same length - need that on lots of stuff and saves a ton of time. I'll PM you what mine look like later when I get home - total redneck solutions but they get the job done I'll be interested to see what you come up with Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.

Reply:Here are some redneck ideas for you.Adjustable stand, I put the bolt in from the corner instead of in the flat so it did not crush the inner tube when tightened.Cutting stop for repeated cuts with sliding stop.Dirty, unpainted, and made in a hurry when I needed them - then they just stay that way for ever Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.

Reply:In the end functionality is what matters. I like it!GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.
Reply:the plate under the saw has a lip on each side and the side against the table is tacked to the yellow plate in pic 3. the flat bar for the stop is tacked to the table. these are set up for the current project I am working on now. here it is. a flower pot stand. I have them in another thread but here is a pic f the one I almost have finished.also here is a pic of my rod bender and the brake I made for bending the flat barLincoln 225 ac (my first machine)farmhand 115vac 70amp mig/fc toymiller aead 200le (my main machine)
