whups...Forgot to add that I'm also on the lookout for the Wirefeed add-on that was made for this Weldanpower 225.  There were several different versions/vintages of this welder; but mine appears new enough to take the add-on.  It does have the extra switch position for CV.Work's been slow this summer, so I'm not flush; but if you've got one gathering dust...let me know how many cases of brew would do...  Richard, 541-944-9746 after 1pm PST.
Reply:Any voltage sensing feeder would work off of that unit. LN-25's are Linc's workhorse in that dept.
Reply:howdy DDA,Thanks for the info.So that unit doesn't require any internal mods or connections at all?I've seen a Lincoln doc with instructions for making internal connections, adding capacitors, etc.; for using a wire-feeder.  It was a while ago; and I wasn't sure which version Weldanpower or wire-feeder the doc was for....If the LN25 just plugs on the front and works, and works well; then that'd be great.Still have to find a bargain on one of course...
Reply:All you need to do is plug in the lead at the rear and attatch the voltage sensing cable to the work and start welding. It has the power supplied over the arc. No other cables or anything else is necessary. Now, as to the deal...welp, the LN-25 is the most expensive used feeder out there. There are others that are cheaper. Miller has several as does Thermal and Esab. Look at Wire Feeder on Ebay and you will see what I mean. I believe there are some Hefty II's on there now. As long as the feeder is voltage sensing and a CC/CV feeder, it is pretty much universal. I paid 550 for my Miller 8VS used and also got a Miller Super S-32P NIB for 600 on Ebay. The deals are there if you look.
Reply:hmm....I don't have any connections "on the back".  The connections for the leads themselves are on the side; and everything/anything else is on the front panel. There really isn't any 'back' to this unit.  The engine is on the 'back'.wowza....600 bucks....definitely way over what I can afford this year.  Guess I'll stick to stick, so to speak...thanks again DDA.
Reply:Back of the feeder is what I meant. The lead plugs into the back of the feeder. 600 is less than half of the price of a new one. They will run about 1300 to 1500 bucks depending on model, options, gun(s), etc. Some are even higher.
Reply:ahhh...gotcha....back of the feeder. With the construction biz crashing hard (I mine and sell landscaping stone), it doesn't matter what the 'new' price was I guess....I just don't have 600 bucks this year....I'm -selling- my heavy-equipment to buy groceries lately....so I'll be stuck with stick...unless one of those feeders pops up for a c-note by some miracle. Thanks again for letting me know which model# to keep an eye out for.Stuff like that does show up at my local industrial-boneyard once in a while.Got a pair of these Weldanpowers at that yard a few years ago for $500 total. But the best bargain of all was the 200+ feet of 3/0 cable I got for 30 bucks!  hee hee...  Man, that deal was a lifesaver...got a bunch of Jackson male/female ends with it too...
Reply:Constr biz crashing hard???? Not here. We aren't as busy as before, but still very busy. Sorry to hear your are in bad times. Hopefully it'll get better for you.I would look for a LN-25, Miller 12VS, 12VS Extreme, Super S-32P, aand maybe a Thermal Hefty II or Esab Mobilemaster IV. They are the most recent VS feeders and all will hold a 12" spool. The Miller 8VS only holds a 8" spool. That may be fine for you, but it will limit you as to wire selection.
Reply:good info....I've copied that to my welding-notes file....thanks!yup, goin' down hard.  You'll see it soon...It always begins with the fields like landscaping-stone...that's the kind of stuff that people stop spending money on first, when the market goes south.Actual 'construction' will continue for a bit, and go soft more slowly; because anything already contracted for still needs to be built or finished.  But the slowdown will catch up to that part of it too, in not too many more months. And of course the timing differs by area too.  Already happened in Vegas, Arizona, Florida, even parts of Kali like SD....just starting to hit here in Oregon...and Seattle hasn't slowed at all yet...still peaking there. As soon as ya see inventories skyrocket, then ya know building will crash 6-12 mos later.... :P
Reply:This area is a huge stone producing area and I am in a related field...transport. There hasn't been a slowdown in it in decades. The current projections are for continued growth. With all the businesses moving down here, there is a steady influx of people and companies. The ones that are here are are all expanding. Residential is booming, commercial is going strong and more is on the way by all accounts. It will be years before there is any let up due to the influx. Even then, I am doubtful it will. This area is different from the rest of the country. There always seems to be something going on. I have been hearing about no work and stoppages all over since I got here almost 15 years ago. I have had some bad years, but I still worked a good bit. Doesn't mean it can't or won't happen. I just don't see anything occurring in the next few years or more.
