Got a customer of mine who calls me all the time and we BS on the phone about once a week. Guy has been welding for years and is all self taught. How he looks at things is so different than anyone else. He told me he can weld 2 razor blades together (box cutter blades) and we had a challenge. I tried it on tig and then he bought some and did it with his mig and he called me right after he did his best one ever. Then he sent it to me to see in person so I snapped some pics and sent it back to him. 2 box cutter blades BUTT welded. He put a clamp on both ends and as you can see in the pics one side is the butt and other side moved slightly to an overlapNO heatsink. No copper or aluminum backing. These are pictures of BOTH sides of the blade. 1 squeeze of the trigger ONLY, 1 pass on 1 side. It is not a high end machine and it's not pulsed. It's a standard transformer machine and that's all I will say. Because it really doesn't matter what welder he used. He used .023 wire of course. I tried it and no luck just yet.Torchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer

Reply:I see he didn't get close to the ends. I used to weld .030" thick bandsaw blades together the same way. But the ends required pulsing to fill in.Millermatic 252XMT 304'sDynasty 280DXHypertherm PowerMax 1250Miller Trailblazer 302 EFIOptima PulserXR feeder and XR Edge gun and more athttp://members.dslextreme.com/users/waynecook/index.htm
