Reply:i think they do serve a niche but with the advent of big box home stores small units are far more affordable then before i would not buy a chi unit and even if i ever did it would be from somewhere like harbor freight  at least when there stuff fizzles you can take it down and get another vs shipping back and forth i would advise those looking at eBay china units to ask if there warranty covers return shipping otherwise your out time and probably 20-30 bucks at least each time ya have to send it back which from reading some experiences on the net will add up 350P 30A spool gun cut master 51  syncro 250 other stuff " take a dog off the street and make him prosper and he will not bite you sad the same cannot be said for man" i didnt use punctuation just to piss you off

Reply:not really...  i've never owned one of the china made welders, but my friend up the road has had a colossal tech (220v)50 amp plasma for 3 years now, its been used pretty hard... it actually cuts pretty good for the $300 he spent. i was suprised how well it worked.. i borrowed it last week because i had sold my bluepoint plasma.  the  bluepoint plasma is a foreign unit also, think its an italian made unit, but i bought it used for $150 ,used it for 5 or 6 yrs and sold it for a 300% profit..i was very, and i mean very happy with the italian made bluepoint plasma, but i need more amperage...  i've owned a buffalo brand saw for i think 12 yrs now, if it croaks i'll buy another for sure, i think i give $250 for it new...  i have a lincoln 180c, the more expensive unit with infinite controls not the ones sold at home depot or lowes, seems like i read made in mexico on the inside panel.. i was pretty disappointed.. i own a thermal arc 185 which was made in japan, its a very nice tig machine.. ive had it for i dunno 4 or 5 yrs now,i am 100% satisfied with it..  people can be plain hypocrites for even making statements as such when your posting from a communist built computer.Last edited by brucer; 01-04-2011 at 11:11 PM.

Reply:Always remember the Chinese manufacturing policies. They don't make it better or more functional. All they care about is making it cheaper. I do my best to avoid anything made in china.
