Reply:I am by no means an expert, but in doing tons of research I have found lots of ways to get a foot pedal working for an old machine. In my case my Miller used a 1000 ohm potentiometer for the controls, so I assume it would be the same for a foot control - therefore if I dont get a foot control from another member, I will eventually buy this one:http://www.ssccontrols.com/homepage-...ercontrols.htmOf course you could just run it right off the machine by either splicing into the wiring, or finding a plug that fits that receptacle. If you do go this route, be sure and order a foot control with the -S option for a switch. The switch will basically just turn on/off the torch - of course only if your machine supports this.I am by no means an electrical person but I believe there is a way to determine what ohm your potentiometer should be by testing with a multimeter. Someone should definitely correct this if i`m wrong.Goodluck with the search.
Reply:Forgot to mention that I have seen lots of old foot controls with that twist lock style connector. Usually on ebay.
Reply:The old P&H welders used a foot control that had a large ceramic resistance element inside with large brass buttons that were arranged in a sliding arc fashion and a mechanical wiper contact moved over them as the pedal was depressed. I can send you a picture if you like. We have some of them here as well as the ceramic elements. Seems like they came in 6 and 12 ohms.       The 1000 ohm device will not help you at all but I have seen cases of customers using the 15 ohm devices such as the RFC23A. Would not give the same range of control, but close is better than nothing. weldersales
Reply:I do not know that machine. Does it have high frequency? I don't see the normal P&H high frequency controls. Maybe they did aluminum stick, in AC mode. That may stay lit. But AC TIG will go out without high frequency.        Sincerely,             William McCormick
Reply:Thanks to everyone for the info.William- yes it does have a high frequency. The machine was used for aluminium tig welding. The toggle switch on the right side of the machine turns the high frequency on and the smaller knob above the toggle switch controls the frequency. At the bottom of the range it is a low buzz, at the top it is a loud hiss.Weldersales- could you please send me a picture of the correct foot pedal? Also, do you have one for sale?thanksGlen
