I bought a weldanpower 250 g9 pro that has a broken rod. It has a p18 onan engine on it.I also bought a complete engine that runs good but doesn't have a tapered crankshaft. Im not sure what horsepower it is.It looks the same.Is the stroke the same on all two cylinder onan engines. Can I swap the cranks and put in the other engine. Thanks Mach1390
Reply:I did it on my Onan Performer 16hp. It was the same engine model and spec number. As long as that matches, you are golden. Other than that, you'll have to ask your Onan dealer that question. You have to know the numbers, though. The Performers were all pretty much the same, so I suspect they will be compatible. Doesn't hurt to have them look it up to be sure.
Reply:i may be incorrect in this. but i believe most small engine builders use a modular system, simular to the small block chevy, interchangable parts within a family and a given h.p. group for example 10hp- 15hp briggs (in a family) use the same block. so what im tring to say is you can, more than likely interchange parts and build a complete motor. todd |
