Reply:maybe taking some time to look around used?Dynasty 200DXPassport plus w/ spoolmate 100victor 315c oxy/(act and prop)Miller digital elitemilwaukee power tools
Reply:Hopefully, you won't have to cut any angles, if it is 6.5" horizontal. Will the vise actually grip 6" pipe. What is the OD of 6" pipe?
Reply:I have used this one quite extensively for about 4 years and have had no problems. I like the fact that the head swings and the metal stays in place. It says 4.5 inch, but I know I have cut many 6 inch wide flat plate on a 90 degree cut. I believe they are talking about an angle.http://www.agrisupply.com/4-metal-cu...03/cn/4700010/ Its not quite as nice as the Grizzly, but a big step up from the basic HF model.Last edited by lugweld; 01-15-2011 at 01:52 AM.Esab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT

Reply:It'll clear that I am sure. I know I have cut 5 inch pipe and not even come close to interference issues with the head.Esab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT

Reply:I have a bandsaw from Northern that's the same as the G4030. I got it on sale for $285. When I went to pick it up they said it's lucky I bought it when I did because the price was a mistake by Corporate. For that price it's a great saw. I did strip the lowest speed gear in the first year and they replaced the whole saw under warranty. I now normally run it at medium speed because there is a small spur gear for low speed that is a weak link. I would say that the 3-speed gear box on this saw is less robust than the belt/worm drive that is more common. The regular price is very close to the price of the full size 7x12 that everybody sells. Parts and especially blades for the 7x12 are easier to find, making it a much better value. The maximum stock capacities are not conservative. You will not be able to cut anything bigger. Here are some 7x12 saws.http://www.harborfreight.com/garage-...saw-97009.htmlhttp://www.northerntool.com/shop/too...5544_200365544http://www.wttool.com/index/page/pro...ndsaw+%28WT%29http://www.grizzly.com/products/7-x-...-Bandsaw/G0561Of course the cheapes bandsaw for cutting 6" pipe is a portaband and a pipe wrap Lincoln SA200, HH135, Lencospot, HF80 Inverter, Rockwell 11x35 lathe, HF drill mill, Kama 554 tractor w/ FEL & BH, Belarus 250AS, lot's of Chinese tools
