Well, I went and did it.  Picked up 2 old welders on auction, $18 for the kw GW one thirty model, and 25 for the craftsman.  don't know anything about them or if they will run/weld, so it was a gamble.  The craftsman is dc 200 amp.  The kw generates ac for the outlets, don't know if it is ac or dc for welding.I would appreciate any information about how I should go about checking them out, what should I look for or do before I try firing them up or welding with them. Thanks for any advice or information you can give me.  pic's attached.Last edited by hpbcrillo; 07-03-2015 at 09:25 PM.
Reply:Sweet score, for the money you can't lose. I can't give you a lot of help, but first thing I would do is remove all the sheet metal and clean the insides out and look at all the leads cables and wiring. They look pretty good for their age.Thermal Arc 210 - Tweco 211I - Cutmaster 52

Reply:Wow!  Thanks for all the info guys.  I can't wait to get them (Monday) and clean them out and examine the innards.  And thanks for the manual links....I'll check the serial number when I get it.  I'll be sure to post pic's as I make progress on them.  Sounds like I may have gotten a good deal on them. Thanks again!

Reply:To the OP, be sure to pull all the tin off the engines before starting to make sure the air isn't blocked by mouse or insect nests.                                          MikeOl' Stonebreaker  "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw

Reply:You might be pleasantly surprised. I'd put my effort into the GW first. If you didn't get leads with them the jack plugs are still available to put on your new leads. I'm not sure what the Craftsman ones look like for sure, but I think they're bigger. Maybe someone else will chime in.And you better start adding onto the garage now because by this time next year you'll have at least 17 more engine driven welders.
