I have a SA200 long nose with a round generator no readable model no. code or serial no. the vacuum idle went out the other day. Everything that i have heard and read says go to the electronic upgrade kit. I found the ones from weldtron, hybriweld, and weldmart. I was wondering if anyone has had any direct dealings with any of them and which one they would recommend. I am a certified ford diesel tech so i have enough electrical knowledge to hopefully get the job done. If not we have the internet and I can ask all of you. thank you.
Reply:Probably by 'long nose', you mean a SA200 with a short hood and 22 inches of generator sticking thru the front panel. Pre 1957 in other words. If so, you have the accordion type bellows. You can replace this with the later 'R57' triangular unit that works much better. Several of the guys in here can send you one of these and if you need some advice on mounting and such PM us - involves turning some parts upside down. I think any of the electrical kits will work - positive the ones that involve solenoid down by the governor will. If you go electric route, you get the added advantage of a power idler. weldersales
Reply:No Sir, only about 8" sticking out the front and it has the R57 on it. The power idler is definitly an advantageLast edited by usmcgremlin; 04-28-2007 at 09:12 PM.
Reply:Ok, you have a 'k' model, built after 1956. The kit from Weldtron uses the R57 to mount the added solenoid on. That is probably the easiest to install as this system leaves everything in place on the welder. weldersales
Reply:thank you very much for the info esp. the year i had no clue
Reply:I think it might be cheaper from weldtron as they manufacture the board. However Larry at Weldmart is really helpful. I've dealt with both and have never been dissapointed. I don't know about the other one.
Reply:I think I might be leaning more towards the weldtron. But would like to hear from someone who has one on there machine. |
