I have done some searches on the site and gone over the manual but i am still stumped.I have a lincoln WELD-PAK 175HD. I am running it using innersheild right now (no gas) here is the problem.. i pluged it in, turned it on, and vrooom.. the fan spins.. but when i pull the trigger no wire is fed, when i tap it to the metal with trigger pulled no spark. The wired feed motor is not jammed.I did some searching and found that H1 and H3 need to be swaped if i am running 208v. though i figured it out... but no. after i swithched the wires according to the manual, it still right back where i started. fan turns but no sprak or wire feed.i bought this welder used.. i was told it worked fine and was 6mo old. I feel like a idiot now like i may have bought a broken welder.if anyone can tell me something to check, or what may be broken that would be awsome. thanks a ton!
Reply:Go to the lincoln site and down load the manual for your machine. Find it by the code #. You could also call lincoln, they are nice.DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:i have loked through the maunal.. its was not help
Reply:When you pull the trigger, does the wire feed wheel turn? If not, make sure the trigger wires are hooked up properly, and check them to make sure neither are frayed or broken. They're stretched pretty tight in my 175HD.How tight is the wire spool? It should be pretty loose, just barely tight enough to keep it from freewheeling. If you just screwed it down until it was tight, the wire will not feed.Check to make sure you have the right size tip for the wire you are running. What it the wire size you're trying to use? I think it needs a different liner for the gun if you are running larger than .035" wire.PatrickLincoln 175HD
Reply:One step would be to eliminate any doubt about the trigger. It is a simple loop closure. Not positive about the 175 HD but likely the trigger leads connect just inside the panel or similar easy access. Where the trigger leads connect take a short jumper and touch across the two connection points. You should hear the solenoid click and the wire feed should engage and feed. Take care to note where the tip of the gun is located during this test. If it works by simulating the trigger closure then you have either a bad trigger or trigger leads. If not you'll then need to dig a little deeper into the machine. Get this simple test out of the way first tho.
