Reply:Please post a review when you get yours. I've been looking at them myself.40a output + lower than normal air use + 120V capability looks very good.I wish I knew when some of the other manufacturer's will be updating their lines.------------------------------Lincoln 175HDLincoln AC/DC225Smith O/A

Reply:my 52 did not, I use a toilet paper filter @ my compressor & a screw on disposable filter used for automotive spray guns @ the machine & they work great. good luck with your new machine Bob
Reply:The only downside is this. http://www.weldfabulous.com/Plasma-C...-p9369797.htmlStandard 1 torch tips are $5.00 from 20-120 amps.Looks like it's a pack of 5, so that's a really good deal! Electrodes are about $23.00 for a pack of 5. Also good.Last edited by Brand X; 02-01-2011 at 01:21 PM.Esab/Lorch ET-220iEsab 160i caddyThermal LM-200 Lincoln feedersThermal Pee-Wee 85sThermal 60i- 3phase /RPC powered (Beast)Thermal Drag-gun 35CINE 1500 Klutch 140i

Reply:I haven't used it yet i got to pick up a compressor filter/dryer for it tomorrow so far the fit finish im really happy my local fab shop/buddy had a cutmaster 102 and its on par with it for fit finish just less glam. The carry case i don't think its water proof but very well built I would not be scared to have the case rained on just not submerged it cal came with a promotion form to send in for a canvas carry bag to make it more portable.and the machine its self has a shoulder strap but i do wish it has a cage like the others. I am a thermadyne person I have a 2010 thermal arc fabricator 210 which I cant say anything bad about if this little CM42 is anything like my mig or my buddys 102 which is 3years old and never had one problem and is used frequent on and off the cnc table I will be really please for the price of it you cant go wrong Its price is comparable to a HF machine after you purchase the 2yr warranty and pay sales tax or smaller other brand name machines. I was stuck really between the cm52 and the hypertherm 45 but I started to to look into this one.it meets all my needs and then some.I have a piece of 5/8 and I built a got trikes bender that I ended up ditching and buying a JMR manual . Im going to cut it up its all 1/4 sq so we will see how it works out.But I don't have more than 20 hours using a plasma though so I have to take that in consideration.Thermal Arc Fabricator 210Thermal Dynamics cutmaster 42
Reply:Originally Posted by cnywelderFrom the line drawing in the manual, it looks like there's a flat spot on the torch plastic near where it makes its 75 degree bend. I can't tell what would be written there, but I assume it would either be the model # or the serial number.
Reply:The Cutmaster 42 is pretty much equivalent power wise...to a Hypertherm Powermax30. Both can run on either 120 volts or 240 volts input power. Should be a good machine for cutting up to 1/4" materials, it will sever 1/2" when operated on 240 volts, although will be pretty slow.I believe the Cutmaster 42 is imported...but should work pretty well with the One Torch.Show us some cuts!Jim
Reply:Radnor mc40 torch. I just replaced my busted"x" brand plasma that was new with one of these. I love it. In 110v mode it def cuts what they say it will. In 220v it seems like they underrated it a bit. I am super happy with it. I really like the one hook-up lead so it is easy to remove when I need to take it somewhere.Last edited by Indysupra; 02-03-2011 at 09:12 AM.1995 supra 6-speed. 9.91 @148 mph on e85

Reply:Originally Posted by Brand XMust of bought it from Airgas? They changed the torch, so it can only use Radnor consumables. They did that with some of the Cutmasters too. The consumables look like good quality, but I think it's going to keep you buying from only one place, That part sucks hind tit.

Reply:Yes here is a picture of 5/8 with it turned to about 32 amps using the drag tip It has some slag i didn't realize it wasn't cranked the whole way up till after I made a 28/28 plasma table out of some think wall galvanized channel and had it at that cutting that stuff. seems to work pretty well only other experience on a plasma was while i was in my 2yr welding fabrication course and a couple times at my buddies but that was using a torchmate so I didn't touch the torch.Thermal Arc Fabricator 210Thermal Dynamics cutmaster 42Like Jim said it looks comparable to the Powermax 30 except about $200 cheaper.
Reply:I'm happy with it so far I really wanted the cm52 but for all i need it for i wouldn't have took advantage of its full potential. I looked at the harbor freight 40amp plasma it was 600 then with tax and the 2year warranty it wasnt much cheaper than this cm42 and the 42 out weighted it in all aspects so i would recommend it if someone is in the market for a under 1000 dollar plasma. over the other el cheapos out there.Thermal Arc Fabricator 210Thermal Dynamics cutmaster 42

Reply:So I take 5/8" is max for this machine?
Reply:The brochure says maximum severance of 5/8".....but it is not clear on whether you can only do that when operating on 230 volt (40 amps output @ 40% duty cycle) or on 120 volt (27 amps output, non specified duty cycle)I think on 230 volts it has slightly more power than the Hypertherm Powermax30, and on 120 volts it has slightly less power than the Powermax30. The 30 is made in USA (torch and power supply), the 42 is imported.Pic of a 5/8" severance cut (Hypertherm rates it for 1/2" severance) with the Powermax30 running on 120 volt input:Jim Attached Images
Reply:with my 42 I cut 5/8 at like 34amp on the dial I was making a plasma table out of thin angle and forgot to turn up the dial 5/8 is the thickest i have laying around once i get thicker i will post[IMG][/IMG]Thermal Arc Fabricator 210Thermal Dynamics cutmaster 42
Reply:I have a Cutmaster 52 and love it. So far the thickest I've cut is 1/2" . . . but it did a nice job if it!! |
