nutsert install tool

HiHere is a tool I built some time ago for installing nutsert/ rivet nuts in projects.Only one handle needs to be made even though I show two.The handle is made from 1” round stock drilled and taped with ½” 20 thread about 2” long.  With a ½” round stock about 6” long welded to the 1” round stock.Using two ½” 20 thread bolts center drill them out to the nutsert size you want. Cut one short about ½” long (threaded part).To use install the size ½” bolts in the handle for the nutsert you want to install with the short bolt in the lower end.  Install a washer on the bolt being used and install that into the completed handle. And install the nutsert on the exposed bolt end.  Install the nutsert into the project now turn the top ½” bolt CCW.  This pulls out the bolt and this will start the collapsing of the nutsert continue until the nutsert is completely tight in the project.  Turn the top ½” blot CW and then remove the tool from the nutsert.  Install complete.The washer allows the ½” bolt to be turned without the center through bolt from turning out of the nutsert. Beats the daylights out of my flat bar with bolt and washers that will occassionally let the nutsert turn before it starts compressing enough to hold to finish the job.Would love to have one of those $1,200 air powered reversible driver kits some day.
