I am trying to get into brass brazing for artwork. I will be brass brazing steel rods about 1/4" to 3/8" thick with brass flux.I have a small oxy/acetylene torch but not sure which tips to use?  or which flux to use?  I look in the manual and it says what settings to go with for each tip, but not really which tip to use.Last edited by metriccar; 07-20-2015 at 04:13 PM.
Reply:What torch and tips do you have?  Just curious, is the brass part of the art work.
Reply:For brazing stuff that small, I'd start with the smallest tip you have and go from there. O/A gets real HOT real QUICK.I weld 1/4" - 3/8" steel rods with a 000 tip.
Reply:I have some blue Peterson's flux that we've been using in our family since 1959 (yes, 1959) and the can is still half full. LOL. It works great. Just heat your brazing rod and dip it into the hole that you made in the lid. A #1 Victor tip would be fine for 1/4"-3/8" steel rod. Plain Boraxo works very nicely for brazing flux.http://www.reliablepaper.com/Peterso...Qw&click=53253Miller Millermatic 252Miller Syncrowave 200Liincoln AC-DC 225Victor O-A Set
