I know several of you have got your hands on some of this but so far its been a unicorn search for me I have some 16lb spools on order with my LWS for my mig but even he doesn't know when it will be in. My Google-foo has completely failed me in finding an online vendor that lists any. Is my best bet to just start calling some of the major distributor stores around the country like Praxair, Air-Gas or Central Welding to see if they happen to have some on the shelf? I'm okay waiting for my mig spools but would like to get some cut lengths to play on the tig with in the mean time.

Reply:Have your LWS contact Hobart,i got it with no problem, only comes in 10 lb box,,$70.00...
Reply:Got my Mig wire in, Yippee! Have my BIL shopping around some LWS's down south to see if he can spot any Tig wire, my local guy plans on stocking some but it will be awhile yet before he gets it on the shelf. Hope to find some time this weekend to play with the 350P and see how I like it. Need to ask a favor of Shovelon and see where the best place setting wise to start with the 350P and save a bunch of trial and error? I plan on trying some 1/8", 3/16" and 1/4" butt and tee's first with 5086 and 6061 to get a feel for it so my first question is what spool to load up? I got both .035" and 3/64" and I'm wondering how low can I go with 3/64" on the 350P and still have good results? On my old Betamig I definitely had to drop down to .035" to even attempt 1/8" but the charts for the 350 show 3/64" doing that easy, what's the real experience and at what settings?

Reply:Finally got to burn some of it, Its really nice! Flows and wets similar to 4043 and a lot cleaner than the 5356 I usually run. Pic doesn't do it justice as I was just goofing around with scrap and didn't do much proper prep.
Reply:I think the biggest problem is the manufacture sells it in 100 # lotsand most LWS dont have enough demand to order 100# lots so they can't get it.......Now that I have switched over to 4943 I dont buy 4043 anymore and use 20 lbs or more a month they will buy those 100 # lots....The stuff really lets you make some nice welds you need to at least try it so you can see what all the chatter is about.......I blame Terry for sending me that care package, Im hooked now...lolLast edited by B_C; 01-25-2014 at 12:22 PM. Reply:BC: That's what I've found out also, my LWS can get it but his price point makes it tough for just one customer unless he gets a bunch of it. I had my BIL look around down south on the West Coast and there isn't any there yet either. Yes, Terry has been a very very very bad influence , I can't go back to 4043 now that I've run it on my mig and I'm trying like hell to limit my 5356 applications, god knows what I'm going to do once my new dynasty shows up. I recall somewhere that he speculated that the development of the MM350P-Alum and the acquisition of Maxal for their 4943 alloy were strategically related? I'll have to admit I am now a welder crack cocaine addict as he described. These results are just straight off the front panel dummy synergic charts with no tweaks from me (and I'm not a proper weldor!). I've been playing with 1/4" down to 1/8" to find out where I will run into trouble. 1/8" used to be my stop point with less than 50% success. Despite running 3/64" wire my 350 did that with no problem at all on basic synergic settings. Can't imagine what it will do on pulse for the even thinner stuff? I was mainly trying to figure out the fusion/penetration vs. the weldability, from what I can see on my cut sections I couldn't ask for much more?Steve: since you are so close to their home factory we may have to arrange for you to become the pusher feeding us recent drug addicts3/16" and 1/8" 5086 plate with 3/64" 4943:

Reply:Where can I buy some 3/32 filler rod online? I went to my lws and they said that they could only get this 4943 from Hobart in 40lb shipments.
Reply:Your LWS is correct. My lws was reluctant to bring it in for me. So I took 100lbs. in 3 sizes. Now I can get it anytime I want. Reply:Finally got a buddy down in Montana of all places to score a 10lb box of 3/32 for me Those bunch of cowboys must have quickly figured out that it works great for sprinkler pipe, Harley cases and AR receivers I've got Sal's number written down just in case for the next time, thanks Terry! The new Dynasty just showed up at the same time so you can guess what I'll be doing. First project is a silly little cart for the plasma but I sure won't be posting pictures after Dyna Steve's recent masterpiece, that thing is freaking beautiful
