I called the LWS where I normally get bottles filled/exchanged at to get a price for a 125 cu/ft argon bottle fill and was quoted $75.  So I called around to a couple of other places and found a mom and pop place that filled it for $42.  That is quite the price difference, I could understand $5-$10 but almost twice as much from the one place, WTF.

Reply:Tanks and prices are all over. I posted about about the same thing, Ma/Pa supplier I found in Wisconsin. They exchanged my owner 150, current test, 100 % Argon, for one of theirs for $ 45.00 . No B.S. either. Another wanted a paint charge and that MSD bullship charge and more $$$$                 Here is the post.   http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...01#post3430701

Reply:My lws got me setup on an exchange program. 7.50 a year to stay on, and 30 flat for my150. Got the first fill free, traded in a 250 o2 tank and they gave me the markup exchange price and extras. And open on saturdays
Reply:Originally Posted by dcoffmanjrI did ask him about an outright sale on the bottle(s) and I want to say it was around $180-ish. I know leasing is always more expensive in the long run, but when funds are tight, I can swing a leas more easily than an outright purchase right now. So I'll be leasing 2 bottles until I can cash outright buy them. And yea, at $10 a fill for a swap on the dock - that is crazy low. I'm wondering if I could have him lock me in at that price for life LOL
Reply:If you ask for a printed invoice/bill of sale for that bottle, with the serial numbers on the tank, any lws should be accepting that as proof you own it.

Reply:Location ! It's all about where you are at and what suppliers are there. I found a family owned MA / PA supplier that is great. No BS, fair prices, and HONEST !
Reply:I am in Charlotte, ncprices are all over the placeRoberts oxygen charges$35 to swap out a 150 cylinder of 100% argon$50 for a 300 cyliner and about $60 a year for the lease.Machine and welding supply is about the same price wise. Now one woudl think a bigger company woudl be more competitive? not so. airgas was about double the price. every time i went into air gas their sales people tried to charge me 4x to 6x the price and when I complained about it, they told me they were alreayd giving me a great discount of 300% less than their  markup.  they are clueless about their competition I do not know how they stay in business. I went to buy a $10 pair of gloves and the idiot behind the counter couldnt' figgure out how to ring it up for ten minutes, I told him to forget it. I've got places to go and people to see.
Reply:Airgas was horrible here as well.  I didnt even give the guy the time of day after he quoted me for a price.
