$155 for the regular non quick detach or$180 for the quick detach? Is the a better chop saw new for $150? Is the quick detach worth it for $30. Very light hobby use so don't plan to change blades often.
Reply:Same exact price from Amazon. Besides the base are the motor, blade, longevity comparable?
Reply:Just my .02 I have a hitachi abrasive chop saw and recentley bought an evolution sliding compound miter saw with a steel blade. It was the cheaper one, about 160$ I think, and wow. I dont think i'll ever use the chop saw again. It cuts 8 in. 14 ga. c-purlins like its wood. I cut some 1/4 in. plate with it the other day and it just ate right through it. Its 10x better than an abrasive saw imo.
Reply:The chopsaw from Homedepot is the Rigid 14" mod# cm1450. I like this one because of Tacks advice about the base. The Rigid has a CAST IRON base. Its strong, wont flex.....and is heavy enough to withstand abusive weights from large pcs. of metal.A quick change device....WHY? It take just a moment to change a blade normally....so what are you saving? 10 seconds?Price on the Rigid is 179. online. I got mine for a lot less by taking a flyer into a store with a coupon...I got 20% off one item.....I got the saw.Now...with that said, If I were you and starting out fresh.....Id look into a low RPM cold cut saw with a metal blade. Evo makes one, so does everyone else. there are some great threads on this site about them.... read up, be an INFORMED CONSUMER.Lincoln IdealArc 250 AC/DC w/ tigLincoln Ranger 8Miller Millermatic 140Victor Cutting setForney gas welding setMilwaukee power-tools3 legged dog named SpeedyFridge full of Diet Coke1 angry wife2 loud kids |
