Been looking at tubing bender, considering the JD2, but the cost of the dies can add up quick. Just wanting to do some roll cage stuff, maybe some ornamental stuff. I was curious if anyone owned this bender, for the price with the dies it seems to be a good deal.http://www.eastwood.com/review/produ.../category/188/
Reply:Seems like a nice price. The dies are only 60 degrees, however. Is it advisable to splice bends for roll cages?? If you got to/can splice then why not purchase elbows.Bender might be good for making cart handles or ornamental stuff.Last edited by tapwelder; 03-26-2011 at 06:18 PM.
Reply:looks like a nice bender. never used one myself. check out ebay befor you buy, and you might find a better price. i have a hosfeld bender myself and use it for a lot of things. If you like my stuff you can find me on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/theangryanv...ngryanvilforge
Reply:Looks remarkably like a got trikes build it yourself bender. I have a JD2 and though the dies are a little more expensive it does a bang up job on DOM, CroMo, and ERW. The differenc in cost can get pretty big pretty quick but if properly maintained it will last forever. Pro tools and another vendor are currently locked in a 3 way sales war with JD so it might pay to look around for a free shipping deal like I got when I ordered mine. Just a thought. I was very satisfied with a place called metal by the foot with free shipping and deals on additional dies.BobI'm spending my Kids inheritance, I dont like him that much anyway!!!!!!Enuff tools to do the job, enough sense to use em.Anybody got a spare set of kidneys? Trade?
Reply:eastwood is way over priced. northern tools is selling JD Squared tools
Reply:If you are wanting to do cages, you will need a bender that can do 90deg. bends. The savings on die costs won't mean much if they won't ro a quarter turn. I have a proline bender, and have never had a problem.
Reply:lol!! Years of college and I can't fully read the description! I missed the bend degree. |
