Put a coat of POR-15 on the frame and now I need to get it off to weld brackets on for a suspension redo. Anybody? Stuff sticks like glue and never really dries. What would you use to get it ready to weld? Got some weld thru primer for the bare metal while waiting to get it welded.
Reply:Ive been able to get it off using my Makita grinder with a dewalt cup brush on it.
Reply:Never dries?? POR15 sets up from moisture in the air. Here in Texas mine usually hardens in less than an hour (high humidity). You must be in a really dry area for it to never set. Spritz some water on it to accelerate the paint setting up. I use a coarse flap wheel on a 4 1/2" grinder to remove hardened POR.Miller Syncrowave 350Millermatic 252/ 30A spoolgunMiller Bobcat 225g w/ 3545 spoolgunLincoln PowerArc4000Lincoln 175 Mig Lincoln 135 Mig Everlast 250EX TigCentury ac/dc 230 amp stickVictor O/AHypertherm 1000 plasma
Reply:I sanded some off just last night with a sanding block and sand paper. It was just applied 1 week ago. It was not that difficult, at all.Rich
Reply:Thanx guys. I just picked up a cup brush today. By not drying I used a rust remover pad that was very coarse on it and it smeared.
