I am on the market for a bigger mig welder I have it down to 3 different welders A Hobart handler 187, Hobart handler 210 or a lincoln weld pak 180. anyone have any inputi am not really worried about the price but i am stock between these 3 welders. I am honestly more on the side of the Hobart i really like that the 210 is spool gun ready right out of the box plus Linclons new welders look and feel kinda cheap to what they used to make. If anyone can give me what they think about any of the three it would be great2-Lincoln idealarc 250/250, lincoln 225 ac/dc welder, lincweld ac 180c, hobart handler 210, hobart stickmate lx 235/160, Hypertherm Powermax30local 26 I.B.E.W Electrician
Reply:I bought a 187, and I love it... That being said, I wish I'd saved up a few more bucks and bought a 210, but whatever... Its still a great welder, and I don't have any complaints about it...[Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. See you on YouTube! -ChuckE2009

Reply:I looked at northern tools and i dont need the spool gun just yet and its only 200 bucks so i could just buy it when i am ready to get one i would only be using it every once and a while anyway Plus the one from tractor supply comes with a cover gloves and welpers. i can get the spool gun from northern when i am ready for $230 shipped. i am most likely going to get the Hobart handler 210 i love the spool gun idea and i am sure when in a year i'll get the funds back up to buy another bottle and spool gun to try welding AL. its a hobby not a living for me.2-Lincoln idealarc 250/250, lincoln 225 ac/dc welder, lincweld ac 180c, hobart handler 210, hobart stickmate lx 235/160, Hypertherm Powermax30local 26 I.B.E.W Electrician
Reply:miller makes it and i dont wanna fork out the extra money for a welder that is almost the same. I have had a HARD time finding bad reviews about the hh 187 or the hh 210. I am not gonna lie if i was gonna use the welder to put food on the table i would never skimp on the tools that make me money. I have ALOT of money invested in my work tools. but the welder is a want not a need as i said this is a hobby for me.2-Lincoln idealarc 250/250, lincoln 225 ac/dc welder, lincweld ac 180c, hobart handler 210, hobart stickmate lx 235/160, Hypertherm Powermax30local 26 I.B.E.W Electrician
Reply:Seven voltage taps on the HH 187 and HH 210, compared to 5 V taps selections on the Lincoln puts the Hobart units above the Lincoln on my list. For strictly steel (1/4" & thinner), I tend to favor the HH 187 slightly over the HH 210. Why the HH 187 over the HH 210. I feel the HH 187 produces a slightly better arc then the HH 210. Even though my preference is the 187, the HH 210 is still a good performing unit. If I planned on welding a lot of 1/4" steel or possibly 3/8", I'd probably go with the HH 210 over the HH 187 for the additional top end power. If you seriously ever plan on welding aluminum, out of the three units you are considering the HH 210 would definitley be the best choice.ESAB Migmaster 250 Hobart Ironman 230Multimatic 215TWECO Fabricator 181i & 211iHH125EZ - nice little fluxcore only unitMaxstar 150 STH - very nice
Reply:If you can afford the difference I would go with the HH210 because you cannot use amps you did not buy. The spool gun on command ready to go is a great feature too. The 210 may also have enough giddy up to allow you to spray arc at the extreme top end, so that too is a feature if you ever plan to do heavier stuff like fabbing a trailer or thicker materiasl. So if the difference isnt a portion of the national debt I would tend to err to the larger heavier machines whenever possible. Reply:As of now The lincoln is out of the picture even tho i can get it cheaper but you do get what you pay for. Really it is a race between the 187 and 210 I am having a feeling i am gonna end up with the 210 because i have had the need in the past to weld AL. and its a new process i would love to learn how.I have had a hard time to find bad reviews about ether welder, i did ask the fine people at TSC to rain check one in. so i can still pick ether one if i want i feel the extra $150 would be better spend with the 210. then when i have the funds and can convince the little lady it would be a good investment buy another tank and the spool gun.Side question is it hard to weld AL with a mig with a spool gun is kinda the same idea as mig welding steel?2-Lincoln idealarc 250/250, lincoln 225 ac/dc welder, lincweld ac 180c, hobart handler 210, hobart stickmate lx 235/160, Hypertherm Powermax30local 26 I.B.E.W Electrician
Reply:Millermatic 211, it's dual voltage!
Reply:x2 on the smooth arc... I'd say that the arc on my 187 is nicer than what the miller 250s, 251s, and 252s at school produce... Its also so many times nicer than the arc of the lincoln weld pak that it replaced...I've never used a 210 tho, so I can't say how it does.[Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. Reply:Yea i pretty much have made up my mind i am gonna go with the 210 i'll take lots of pictures and videos when i get it.2-Lincoln idealarc 250/250, lincoln 225 ac/dc welder, lincweld ac 180c, hobart handler 210, hobart stickmate lx 235/160, Hypertherm Powermax30local 26 I.B.E.W Electrician
Reply:I have had my 210 for a very long time now and it always does what I ask. I do not think you could get a better unit. The spoolgun is a great tool, and its not just for alu. You can run any wire you want in it....even flux core. If you get the long cabled gun, it will give you more reach.Alu isn't that hard to learn, although it can be tricky compared to steel. You have to learn to move faster and read the puddle quicker. Steel can be very forgiving compared to alu.QamuIs Heg qaq law' lorvIs yInqaq puS
Reply:The Hobarts are good machines. My choice would be the 210 from Northern with the spoolgun. The if the number of voltage taps are such a concern and steering you away from the Lincoln, you should look at the Lincoln 180c. Reply:Well i got good news...and u have bed news. the bad is that TSC doesn't carry the 210 because it has been discontinued. BUT the good news is i got the display....the best part for $699 PLUS 10% off so before taxes it cost me 629.99 i couldn't beat it everything was there minus the flux core nozzle but i didn't buy this welder for flux core so if i need it i could pick one up for a couple bucks. and i was insured by the store management that it still carries all the warranties. Now to save up and get the spool gun!The thing welds very nicely night and day compared to my weld pak. i'll take pictures once i get the chance to really play with it. I need to see how it does on thinner stuff because i have a 65 mustang i am restoring the reason why i bought the weld pak when i was 16 before i really got into welding and really reading about it.if it does good without burning holes i may sell the weld pak2-Lincoln idealarc 250/250, lincoln 225 ac/dc welder, lincweld ac 180c, hobart handler 210, hobart stickmate lx 235/160, Hypertherm Powermax30local 26 I.B.E.W Electrician
Reply:It should do much much better. I have been burning 14 and 16 ga with mine for several days. Once its dialed in, it is nearly spatter free and very smooth.QamuIs Heg qaq law' lorvIs yInqaq puS
