Hey there, I'm a bit new (as in haven't even started yet) when it comes to welding, but I'd like to know where are the best chances of finding a job as a welder and a discrimination of each category. I've found a welding school near me (Calumet Welding) instead of wasting money at a community college. I live around the south side of Chicago but I'd love to have a change of scenery and move to the west coast (Denver, Albuquerque or Northern Cali area) also I have plans to join the air national Guard. Can anyone help and give a quick walk through? And also is it true that Welders make a lot of money? Sent from my C6916 using Tapatalk

Reply:Get a welder and see if you like it.
Reply:Welders can make good money when there's work but you don't start off making the big money. A first year apprentice will make more than a basic labor type job though.

You sure you weren't looking at the out- of- state column?Much as I hesitate to recommend an apprenticeship, that may be your best option if they are charging that much.
Reply:The Air National Guard has welders, a good friend of mine is a welder in the Guard. They teach you and pay you. Check it out
